Chobe Game Lodge is seeking a skilled and dependable Mechanic to join its Maintenance team at one of Botswana’s most iconic safari destinations. This role is central to ensuring the smooth, safe, and reliable operation of the lodge’s vehicles, boats, generators, and other essential machinery that support exceptional wildlife and guest experiences.
Working as a qualified artisan, the Mechanic is responsible for the installation, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of mechanical equipment. The role requires a high level of independence, sound technical judgement, and the ability to respond effectively to breakdowns in a remote environment. Maintaining equipment to manufacturer standards, ensuring compliance with environmental management requirements, and proactively monitoring usage are key aspects of the position.
Beyond technical expertise, the Mechanic plays an important role in supporting and developing others. This includes mentoring apprentices and trainee mechanics, sharing practical knowledge, and contributing to a culture of teamwork and continuous learning. Strong organisation and attention to detail are essential, particularly in managing workshop stock, ordering parts, maintaining records, and supporting stock‑take processes.
The ideal candidate holds a National Craft Certificate as an Auto Mechanic, has at least three years’ post‑qualification experience in a similar environment, and is comfortable working on boats, tractors, and generators. A valid driver’s licence, relevant safety certifications, and physical fitness are required.
This role reflects Chobe Holdings’ commitment to integrity, respect, professionalism, and community—offering the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to sustainable tourism in Botswana.
